In May 2008, anonymous donors issued the following challenge to their fellow River Society members:

“Make a gift or pledge* to TLC’s Our Water, Our Land campaign this year between May 1 and December 31 and we will match you dollar-for-dollar up to $150,000.”

Our Water, Our Land launched on February 29 with a goal of $5.5 million to grow our Land Opportunity Fund and to steward our conservation lands. Thanks to many generous donors, including 100 River Society members, TLC has raised $3.7 million to date. We must raise the remaining $1.8 million by March 31, 2010. A gift or pledge to the River Society Challenge during this 25th Anniversary year will double the impact of your contribution and of TLC’s ability to safeguard our water and our land.

River Society members are those who contribute $1,000 or more to TLC to support annual operations. Donors to the Our Water, Our Land River Society Challenge will be announced at the 25th Anniversary River Society Soiree in the fall and will receive recognition at the match level (e.g., give/pledge $10,000, be recognized at $20,000) in all campaign materials.
