Windy City Blows Cheryl Chamblee to TLCby Anne Sherman
Cheryl Chamblee started working at TLC in November 2002, which was none too soon for Kat Ayers, our Development Coordinator, who credits Cheryl with “keeping [her] sane.” As the Membership Program Assistant, Cheryl is responsible for managing the donor membership database and providing support for the development and outreach program. Cheryl graduated from Duke with a double major in Theater and Sociology. A North Carolina native, she left the state after college to live and work in Chicago. By day, she helped make large-scale theater in downtown Chicago a reality as one of two employees at the Chicago Music and Dance Theater. At night and on weekends, she ran her own small theater company. She returned to North Carolina “in search of more green and more warm.” Disturbed by the amount of development that had taken place in her absence, Cheryl applied to TLC. She believes her previous not-for-profit work equips her with some perspective to share. She hopes to continue to maintain the membership database as well as her predecessor and would like to create new ways to support the development office’s growth. “TLC is such a well-regarded land conservation organization, there are opportunities to grow,” she says.
