Background
I grew up in rural New Hampshire, in an agricultural community not so different from many of the communities in the Triangle. I graduated from college and spent nearly five years in the Army as an Armor Officer in Germany and Kentucky. I left the military to pursue a career in business; however, I never quite felt a calling. I spent the next four years raising my children while investigating study of the environment and planning. It all took shape once I volunteered at the Society for New Hampshire Forests, a statewide NH land trust. Then I knew what I wanted to do for my career. I moved to NC for graduate school and accepted a job at TLC in 2001. TLC is a special place to work. The staff is synergistic, expressive and creative. Work for me is a way of living my beliefs and the ability to do things that will make a difference for my grandchildren and yours. It is special to know that when I wake up in the morning, I will likely meet or speak to someone I have never met before who wants to protect a unique and special piece of the Triangle, and I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to share the feeling with them. I am lucky to be able share my adventures and daily treasures with my wife and three children at the dinner table each evening.
My favorite TLC property is Wood's Mill Bend because...
