Background
I spent my early childhood in rural Indiana, which imprinted on me a deep
love of wide open spaces and the quiet solitude that exists in nature.
When my family moved to North Carolina in the early '80s, I'll never forget
my initial amazement at the amount of trees and forests we have here!
My hope is that our state will stay lush and green for future generations
of Midwesterners (and of course North Carolinians) to also be amazed!
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Guilford College in Greensboro. Painting
was my concentration, although I love ceramics, printmaking, and drawing
as well. After college I worked several years as a decorative painter
for The Painted Room in Cary, N.C., painting murals and faux finishes.
Working closely with the owner gave me the chance to learn all aspects
of the business, including bookkeeping, estimates, consultations, budgeting,
etc. Working for TLC combines my love of the outdoors with the office
management skills I've cultivated over the years.
My favorite TLC property is La
Grange because...
I love painting in the fields there. I can spend an entire day with a
brush in hand, listening to the grasses move with the wind and the birds
singing as I paint, my mind becoming still and peaceful like the land
all around.
