Andrea Reusing & Mac McCaughan

New TLC members Andrea Reusing and Mac McCaughan are using their creative talents to enrich the living experience in the Triangle.
Andrea is chef and owner of Lantern in Chapel Hill, which was named one of America’s Top 50 Restaurants by
Gourmet in 2006. Mac co-owns Merge Records and is a member of two bands, Superchunk and Portastatic.
Andrea grew up in Glen Rock, New Jersey and attended New York University before moving to Chapel Hill in 1995. A Durham native, Mac attended
Columbia University and moved to Chapel Hill in 1990.
Lantern Restaurant consistently receives rave reviews for its Asian cuisine that focuses on local organic ingredients. This summer, Grist
website named Andrea one of its 15 Green Chefs.
Mac co-founded Merge Records in 1989 with Superchunk bassist Laura Ballance, the same year the band
formed in Chapel Hill. The record label is based in Durham and is home to a number of bands, including Arcade Fire and Spoon.
Mac and Andrea decided to join TLC because they are concerned that the Triangle is “building up so hastily and seemingly without
a vision for the future. Green space seems to be disappearing at an unusual pace. We want to help preserve the beauty and natural state of
North Carolina that make it a singular place to live.”
The couple lives in Chapel Hill with their four-year-old daughter, Oona.
