Jon Stucky

Jon Stucky has a passion for being out in nature, walking our gentle Piedmont trails, and really knowing what he’s seeing in the woods.

"Not only have I built my career around plants, they’re my hobby too," he said. "When I recognize a plant and know its name, I start to discern patterns in the landscape that I wouldn’t otherwise discern."

A professor of plant biology at NC State, Jon has been sharing his love of plants with his students for 34 years, and now he’s encouraging them to develop a conservation ethic too. Being a TLC member – and our Class President for 2004 – is part of that effort.
