TLC Conservation Lands

Triangle Land Conservancy works with families and communities to conserve stream corridors, natural areas, farmland, forestland and wildlife habitat. To date, TLC has protected more than 8,000 acres of the most important natural and working lands in our region.

TLC protects land through a variety of conservation methods, including Ownership, Conservation Agreements with private landowners, and through Conservation Partnerships with governments (local, county and state) and other nonprofit organizations.

Learn more about all of the places TLC has protected by following the "TLC Conservation Lands Chart" link to a chart of every TLC conservation property. Follow the links in the chart to individual pages about each property.

TLC-Owned Conservation Lands

Among the more than 60 sites protected by TLC since 1983, about half are lands that we own and manage. Some of these great places are large tracts that provide significant stream buffers and wildlife habitat. Others are small jewels that preserve unique natural areas. Most of them are open to the public for recreation year-round. Places to Visit

Private Conservation Lands

Triangle Land Conservancy works with private landowners interested in ensuring the conservation of lands they own. In the case of farmland and timberland, TLC helps to ensure the continued productivity of these working lands. In the case of natural lands, TLC helps landowners to manage these wildlife habitats and stream buffers to enhance their conservation values. Read more.

Conservation Partnerships

TLC partners with and assists other non-profit organizations or government agencies in acquiring key tracts for conservation. TLC's assistance may take the form of participating in negotiations, coalition-building, or fundraising. TLC may also acquire important conservation lands through purchase or donation and transfer them to a more fitting conservation owner, such as state or local government for inclusion in parks or greenways. While it is not usually the case, TLC may continue to have a stewardship role as part of the partnership agreement.
