Description	Located on the Chatham County side of the Deep River 850 feet downstream of the Rocky River confluence and TLC's White Pines Nature Preserve, the island provides habitat for three nationally endangered species. The island was created by the channelization of the Deep River to create a lock and dam system prior to the Civil War.
